At some juncture after installing Pscx the ping-host cmdlet fails. I get the following errors. Does anyone have any idea what could cause this? I reinstalled pscx and that did not fix the issue.

Posh 5: C:\Users > get-command ping

CommandType Name Definition
----------- ---- ----------
Alias ping Ping-Host
Application PING.EXE C:\Windows\system32\PING.EXE

Posh 6: C:\Users > ping valid_hostname
Ping-Host : Configuration system failed to initialize
At line:1 char:5
+ ping <<<< valid_hostname

Posh 7: C:\Users > ping 127.0.0.1
Ping-Host : Configuration system failed to initialize
At line:1 char:5
+ ping <<<< 127.0.0.1

Thanks for the help,

Are you on a non-english version of Windows?

No. Good old Vista w/ SP1. Nothing really special about my setup.

I'm running on Windows 2008 R2 Core SP1 x64 as the local administrator user, with UK regional settings.  I've installed PSCX to the machine-level modules path with the following commands:

takeown /f Pscx.zip
7z x Pscx.zip
powershell -command "& {move-item Pscx $PSHome\Modules}"
powershell -command "& {Add-Content $PSHome\profile.ps1 'Import-Module Pscx'}"
