Formatted text and get-clipboard

Is there an option to strip HTML formatting from text copied from, for example, Word or Excel? I thought that might be what the -text option was for, but that seems to have no effect. When I copy text from Word, get-clipboard returns something like this:

Version:1.0
StartHTML:0000000105
EndHTML:0000021076
StartFragment:0000021002
EndFragment:0000021036

We should be able to do this.  I'm converting this to a work item.
